Position Summary
The Housekeeper I reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor and is responsible for cleaning and servicing of assigned areas including patient rooms according to prescribed procedures. In this role the housekeeper works with other departments within the facility, is willing to perform all housekeeping duties and is available to work various shifts. The ideal applicant is detail oriented and provides excellent customer service.
Essential Duties
Dusts and damp mop floors.
Vacuum carpets.
Dusts furniture, equipment, window sills, and surfaces and damp wipes with germicidal disinfectant.
Empties waste containers and trash, damp wipes containers and replaces waste liners.
High dusts and damp wipes horizontal surfaces.
Arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion and reports any needed equipment or furniture repairs to the supervisor.
Inspects bedside curtain and window drapes/blinds and reports any needed repairs or replacements to supervisor.
Cleans and polishes bathrooms including showers, tubs, toilets, sinks and fixtures.
Replenishes hand soaps, paper towels and tissue.
Spot washes walls and wall fixtures.
Damp wipes light lenses within reach.
Responsible for daily cleaning of patient rooms and terminal cleaning of discharged rooms including washing and remaking of beds.
Responsible for cleaning offices, utility rooms, exam rooms, waiting rooms and other ancillary rooms.
Responsible for responding to emergency requests for clean- up and needs within area of assignment.
Maintains the confidentiality and security of all data and information relating to the facility, medical staff and patients.
Abides by all relevant department and facility policies and procedures.
Maintains a professional appearance at all times.
Maintains compliance with department specific education and skill sets.
Remains compliant with mandatory Hospital Education.
Fulfills TB, Immunization and Employee Health Requirements. Actualizes the ABM Healthcare Support Services Mission, Vision and Value statements.
Maintains professional behavior consistent with role as well as composure in difficult interpersonal situations.
Knows who all their customers are and initiates and maintains positive relationships with them; promotes a customer service mindset at all times with both internal and external customers. Responds to all requests from customers with a can do attitude. Follows up on requests with a sense of urgency.
Initiates and maintains positive relationships with co-workers/associates in an effort to build a strong team.
Adheres to the hospital code of ethics at all times to include regard for patient confidentiality.
Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
Proactively reports pertinent feedback to Support Services Manager in a timely manner.
Dry mops, spot mops and wet mops floors. Cleans corner and baseboards.
Buffs floors with buffer or burnish with burnisher.
Vacuums and edges carpets with corridor vacuum, upright vacuum, tank vacuum, or other equipment provided.
Scrubs floors with automatic floor scrubber.
Transports trash from utility rooms and other collection points to designated areas. Trash to be compacted or placed in containers. This includes all trash infectious, hazardous and general.
Learns procedures and duties of Housekeeping I position and perform them when needed.
Changes cubicles and drapes.
Maintains, cleans and properly uses assigned equipment and has repairs made when needed.
Observes and reports the need to repair furniture and building fixtures.
Responds to emergency calls or codes and follows established procedures.
Reports to work on time, in proper attire; requests time off in advance; follows ABM Healthcare Support Services vacation and attendance policies and procedure guidelines.
Follows Universal Precautions/Infection Control Procedure.
Attends in-service programs and department meetings as requested.
Responsible for compliance with Organizational Integrity through raising questions and promptly reporting actual or potential wrongdoing.
Participates in and coordinates with organizational process to collect and evaluate information about hazards and safety practices that are used to identify safety management issues. Adheres to established policies and procedures, which may include wearing of personal protective equipment.
Participates in and fosters a performance improvement approach that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities.
Completes other duties as assigned by manager.
Moves furniture and sets up meeting rooms.
Assists in cleaning of emergency spills/floods that are observed or requested.
Must have the ability to work a variety of shifts/variable schedules.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job duties may be modified at any time.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare facility is preferred.
Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continual basis.
Must have the ability to work in a team environment interacting with a variety of departments.
Must possess excellent customer service skills.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
